Whiskey In The Jar … Seven Drunken Nights
Luke Kelly was born into a working-class family in Dublin in 1940. Kelly performed from his early years busking and became part of the the folk revival of 1961. He was a founding member of the Ronnie Drew Ballad Group, who would soon after change their name to The Dubliners and Kelly and the band went on to achieve great success and worldwide renown.
I wanted to do justice to Luke Kelly in this painting and create something fitting to the memory of one of Ireland’s greatest folk singers.
Acrylic on canvas.
